Children injured on DART station escalator

Dallas Fire-Rescue reported an escalator malfunctioned at a DART train station and injured over a dozen Thompson Middle School students on a field trip in Dallas. The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. at the Mockingbird Station in the 5400 block of East Mockingbird Lane. Quinlan Independent School District is reporting 100 students were at the station on Thursday when the escalator accident happened. News 8 was told that the students were on a down escalator heading to the bottom floor of the station to catch a train. Some students said the escalator "just gave way," as if there was no tension to keep the steps moving at normal pace.
