Ten deadliest tornadoes in U.S. history

A powerful tornado scored a direct hit on the southwestern Missouri town of Joplin on Sunday, killing at least 125 people and injuring at least 823, authorities said on Wednesday. The Joplin tornado is the deadliest single twister since Woodward, Oklahoma, in 1947. The death toll in Joplin may rise as the search continues.
