Insurance doesn’t cover fatal crash, suit claims

An insurance company wants a federal judge to declare that it’s not responsible for defending a Penn man in a lawsuit involving an 18-year-old Greensburg Salem graduate who died in a 2009 car crash after drinking alcohol in his home. The Horace Mann Insurance Co., based in Springfield, Ill., claims in a federal court complaint that its homeowners insurance policy for Michael Patrick Murphy’s parents specified that it excluded liability coverage for losses related to supplying alcohol to a minor.
