Search For Shorewood Gasoline Spill Enters Third Day

Officials in the Shorewood continue to search for the source of a gasoline spill that has infiltrated the village’s sewer system. The North Shore Fire/Rescue, the Village of Shorewood and several private contractors worked Thursday in the area of East Capitol Drive and North Wilson Avenue to try to determine the cause of the leak and to continue to flush and ventilate the sanitary sewer system. Soil samples were taken on Friday in front of 1602 E. Capitol Dr. North Shore Fire Department said the samples did contain a petroleum product in the soil.
