Accident report backlog puts brakes on insurance claims

A new computer system has created significant delays for motorists attempting to get Missouri Highway Patrol reports. This means the claims process is taking weeks and months longer for some motorists. Buddy Kruger contacted KCTV5 after his difficulties created by the new system. Kruger, who lives in Gardner, KS, was involved in a collision on Feb. 21 on Highway 160 near Lamar, MO. A commercial box truck driver said a gust of wind blew him across the highway. Kruger took evasive action and barely avoided a head-on crash. His truck was pulling a horse trailer.
