Head-On Crash Involving DUI Driver On San Diego Freeway

Four people were recovering in the hospital Tuesday morning, three of them with life-threatening injuries, after a wrong-way driver in an SUV crashed head-on into a pick up truck, CHP said. The SUV is believed to have been heading southbound on the 5 north freeway just south of the 163 when it slammed into the pickup truck just before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The force of the crash was so great that one person was trapped in their car and had to be pulled from the wreckage. Several other cars were hit with splintered debris.
