Police Cruiser Struck At Interstate Accident Scene

A police car was struck on I-10 East while investigating a two car accident involving an overturned vehicle. The accident happened around 3:45 a.m. Monday near Esplanade Ave. Police say they were investigating a two-vehicle accident that left a vehicle overturned when a police car was struck. Lights were activated on the police car that was being used for traffic control, officers say, when it was struck by a silver GMC pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was cited for careless operation.

Eastbound I-10 was briefly closed as crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes have been re-opened.
