State police say Gregory Detar, 54, died in the crash around 4:30 p.m. Monday on Route 31 in Bullskin, about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Troopers say Joseph Rudnick Jr., 31, veered the speeding tow-truck into the opposing lane to avoid stopped cars when he couldn’t stop at an intersection in time. They say Detar had moved his vehicle into the lane also, thinking he could avoid the oncoming tow truck.
