A garbage truck crashed through a barrier and landed in a North Andover lake on Thursday morning. North Andover police said it was just before 6 a.m. when the garbage truck went into Lake Cochichewick near 1650 Great Pond Road. The 27-year-old driver of the truck climbed out of the truck as it sank, and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The lake supplies drinking water to the town, but there is no risk to the public because a small fuel spill was quickly contained, officials said.
