At least 29 people were hurt when a Greyhound bus headed to New York City from Atlanta crashed in North Carolina, officials say. Bus No. 1082 crashed on Interstate 85 in Thomasville, a small town in a rural stretch between Charlotte and Greensboro, at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the bus carrier said. The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that the bus ran off the road after it hit a large piece of metal in the roadway. The vehicle, which had blown a tire, started skimming trees on the side of the highway before coming to a stop.
