Driver Ejected, Semi Overturned After Tire Blow Out

The Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and Winona Fire Rescue responded to a one vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. on I-55 northbound near mile marker 181. An 18-wheeler, driven by 50-year-old Freddie Payne, Jr. from Georgia, was traveling north on I-55 when he had a blow out. His truck went into the median and overturned. Payne was seriously injured when he was ejected from his truck. He was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
