Semi Hauling Piglets Overturns, Causing $90,000 In Damage

A truck with 2,600 piglets overturned on a wet, messy morning on the Raleigh Beltline Tuesday, leading to a chaotic scene with hundreds of squealing pigs and hundreds of irate motorists trapped in traffic.Animal control officers and Raleigh Police were on the scene after the tractor trailer truck fell on its side and smashed against a guard rail. Police said the truck was traveling to Iowa from Johnston County. According to the wreck report, the truck, driven by Aaron Edward Robbins of Coon Rapids, Iowa, was driving on the Beltline when a vehicle driven by Robert Alexander Johnson of Smithfield changed lanes and the truck struck the vehicle.
