Amtrak Train, Truck Collision Kills 3 Family Members

A father and his two children were killed Wednesday when their pickup collided with an Amtrak passenger train in Flora.
Madison County Coroner Alex Breeland said the 35-year-old man and his two children, ages 7 and 1, died instantly of blunt force trauma. The names of the victims have yet to be released. The man and the 7-year-old were wearing seat belts, and the toddler was in a car seat, Breeland said. The accident occurred near the intersection of Kearney Park Road and Simmons Street, according to Heath Hall, spokesperson for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
