A man was rushed to a hospital by helicopter Saturday after a frightening crash sent his car tumbling beside busy Woodland Boulevard in DeLand. When it stopped flipping through the air along the 1400-block, smoke began to rise from the car. Bystanders ran toward it to help. "People came over with fire extinguishers to put out the fire," Morgan Bissel said. "We flipped the car over and pulled the guy out so he didn’t burn alive." "We couldn’t pull him out of the windows because the car was crushed," Jarrod Winfield said. Winfield said instead, as one man cut the driver free of his seatbelt, he and another man hoisted him through the vehicle’s sunroof.
