One person is dead and another 12 people are in the hospital following a collision between a multi-passenger van and a car in Fort Pierce. It happened just after 6:30 a.m. on Orange Avenue and Minute Maid Road, a rural road about 10 miles west of the Florida Turnpike. According to St. Lucie County Fire Rescue, one person was killed and a dozen others were taken to the hospital. At this time there are more questions than answers as to why the Toyota and van carrying 12 people collided.
The Florida Highway Patrol said first responders found a man dead inside a badly damaged gray Toyota.
