Happy 4th of July! But please stay safe on Americas birthday. The July 4th holiday this weekend is already expected to attract a record number of Americans to the roads. But all the festivities, fireworks, and general debauchery come swith unfortunate public health consequences. In fact, the holiday is considered to be the deadliest weekend of the year. According to Esurance and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, "Fourth of July is the worst day of the year for fatal car crashes." In fact, "40 percent of all highway deaths between 2007 and 2011 were caused by drunk driving over the Fourth of July weekend," says the Institute.
