Wednesday, October 11th, 2017 Catastrophe

With over a month and a half left in the 2017 hurricane season, a record that has stood for over 100 years may soon be equalled, and could fall. Tropical Storm Ophelia is expected to strengthen to a hurricane as it spins far out over the Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center says Ophelia is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday. While the storm is no threat to land, attention is drawn to the fact it would be the 10th consecutive storm to become a hurricane this season — tying a streak that dates back to 1893.
