Blast Demolishes Buildings In Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Contractor Responsible For Gas Line Break

A firefighter responding to an explosion caused by a gas line break that rocked downtown Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, on Tuesday night has died, authorities said at an early morning news conference. The blast leveled several buildings. Two firefighters were taken to a hospital and one police officer was treated at the scene. One of the firefighters later died and another is in critical condition. A couple of civilians suffered minor injuries. A contractor struck a natural gas main shortly before the explosion rocked the Madison suburb of around 30,000 people.
