Michigan Man Killed By Cannon Explosion At Baby Shower

A 26-year-old man from Hartland died Saturday after a small cannon exploded during a baby shower.

The incident took place at around 7:30 p.m. in Gaines Township, according to a release from Michigan State Police.

A small cannon, which was fired by the homeowner in the backyard, blew up, striking the victim with metal shrapnel and causing serious injuries, police said.

The victim was taken to Hurley Medical Center, where he later died.

The metal shrapnel also hit three parked cars and the garage.
