Alex unleashes tornadoes, floods in Upper Valley

Rain and wind should lessen across the Rio Grande Valley today as Hurricane Alex moves west across Mexico and weakens. Forecasts call for 6 inches to 1 foot of rain across the Valley, with 20 inches in some places. Low-lying areas and places with poor drainage could be inundated with 3 feet to 5 feet of water. Officials also cautioned residents to beware of flash flooding.
