American Medical Association Reports On Positive Effects Of Tort Reform In Three States

In a March 28th report of the American Medical News, the American Medical Association is going to report that tort reform legislation that was passed in Texas, Ohio, and Virginia in the year 2003 is showing very positive effects such as lower liability premiums, happier doctors, and more insurers entering the market. Because plaintiff attorneys usually only collect a third of any malpractice award, the caps in these states give less incentive for the filing of frivolous lawsuits.
