The state has fined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois more than $200,000 over claims the insurance provider failed to provide updated and complete information about providers in its network.
The Illinois Department of Insurance levied $231,900 in fines against Health Care Service Corp., which is the parent company of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. The agency said the insurance provider violated provisions of the Network Adequacy and Transparency Act that requires health insurers post accurate, up-to-date and complete directory information of its providers.
