Thursday, March 15th, 2001 Auto Liability Litigation Property SubrogationThe Alliance of American Insurers has sent an open letter to President George W. Bush outlining its agenda for a strong domestic insurance market. The Alliance calls the presidents attention to the changes occurring within the insurance industry as a result of the modernization instituted by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999. “Insurers will continue to feel the impact of these changes as key requirements of the act come into effect over the next two years,” states the letter, signed by Rodger S. Lawson, the president of the Alliance. “However, this legislation represents only one of the many concerns our industry faces.” The letter further identifies five key issues of concern to the Alliances members: civil justice reforms, OSHAs proposed ergonomics standard, reformation of the EPAs Superfund program to eliminate the joint and several retroactive liability provisions, creation of a congressional privacy commissio
