Congress Warned Of Next Y2K
Monday, January 15th, 2001 Legislation & Regulation TechnologyHarris N. Miller, President of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), recently testified before the House Subcommittees on Technology and Government Management, Information, and Technology on Information Security (InfoSec). Miller told the committees that viewing the potential for information security infringements through the narrow lens of Y2K misses the bigger picture - the growing, pervasive threat of information security breaches created by the nation's dependence on information technology. Miller said that government and industry must work to find common ground on information security, which he described as a problem bigger than Y2K, an issue that will exist as long as society is dependent on information technology.
