Connections: Remote Office Technology
Sunday, August 15th, 1999 Technology"No man is an island," said John Donne, and no office can be either. As more people flee America‘s tired, crumbling urban centers, businesses are expected to communicate as if everyone still sits inside a single office building. When time is money, distances between offices must be overcome to make a profit. Whether one person or 100, most companies have some type of remote office arrangement within their organization. We‘ve come a long way toward those goals with video streaming and Net meetings, video and telephone conferences, but it isn‘t truly the next best thing to being there.
