FEMA Doubles Size of Mitigation Projects
Tuesday, June 15th, 1999 Catastrophe Legislation & Regulation PropertyWith this month's official start of the 1999 tropical storm season, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said it is better prepared than ever to handle the expected bad weather with a number of recently beefed up disaster preparation and mitigation programs, most notably the Project Impact initiative. Since December 1998, FEMA's Project Impact a national effort to encourage individual local governments to prepare for natural disasters has more than doubled the number of its community participants.
