Giving the Devil's Advocate His Due

Monday, January 15th, 2001 Property Technology

The seven last words of a dying industry are, "We‘ve never done it that way before!" Before jumping into the meat of my rebuttal to construction contractor Michael Cousino‘s somewhat emotional critique of "top-down drying" (October 2000 "For the Record") or, as I call it, "whole-house drying," let me say that I believe that we agree on more points than not. Further, as the author of numerous articles on indoor environmental quality, or "IEQ" issues, and even more importantly, as an expert witness and grandfather 61/2 times over, I have major concerns in seeing that restoration is accomplished with the health and safety of all occupants as a top priority. Moreover, drying of carpet and pad in place is nothing new.
