High Noon is initiating a voluntary recall of its Beach Variety 12-packs after a packaging mishap caused vodka seltzer cans to be mislabeled as Celsius energy drinks. According to a notice on the FDA’s website, the mislabeled cans could result in unintentional alcohol consumption. While no injuries or illnesses have been reported, the company is taking precautionary steps to remove the affected products from shelves.
The labeling error was traced back to a can supplier, although E&J Gallo Winery, which owns High Noon, has not disclosed the supplier’s name. The mix-up led to High Noon vodka seltzer being mistakenly placed in Celsius Astro Vibe cans, which are normally alcohol-free. The affected packs were distributed to select stores in eight states between July 21 and July 23.
Walmart has confirmed it acted quickly to remove the mislabeled products from impacted store locations, offering customers full refunds. Celsius Holdings emphasized that it was not involved in the mishap, noting that only empty cans with its branding were used in the error and that no actual Celsius beverages were part of the issue.
High Noon, a rapidly growing brand in the ready-to-drink alcoholic beverage market, has been a top seller since its launch in 2019. As a leading vodka seltzer brand, the company markets itself on clean ingredients, low calorie counts, and no added sugar—attributes that contributed to its rapid rise but also highlight the importance of strict quality controls in the production and packaging process.
