Horses Killed, Track Mangled By Early Morning Tornado
Tuesday, November 8th, 2005 Catastrophe PropertyA tornado that killed at least 21 people in southwestern Indiana early Sunday also ripped through Ellis Park race track in western Kentucky, killing three horses and destroying large sections of the Ellis Park grandstand. At Ellis Park, the tornado leveled the grandstand terrace, a seating area off the main grandstand. In other buildings, it blew out windows, mangled wrought iron fences, knocked down trees and collapsed nine of 39 barns.
