Hurricane Gordon Warning Discontinued; Helene To Miss Bermuda

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, a hurricane warning was discontinued early Wednesday for the central Azores as Hurricane Gordon passed between the sparsely populated islands, and Hurricane Helene was expected to miss Bermuda forecasters said. The eye of Gordon moved between the islands of Sao Miguel and Santa Maria, and was rapidly moving east. A hurricane warning remained in effect for the eastern Azores, but would likely be discontinued by Wednesday afternoon according to the meteorological service of the Azores.
