Icy roads surprise drivers, cause accidents, close highways in St. Louis

Wednesday, March 26th, 2014 Auto Liability

A quick storm dusted snow on the region, causing icy patches on road surfaces, especially overpasses early Tuesday. Bridges and exits are extremely slick, and drivers going too fast for conditions hit the patches and lost control, causing accidents all over, especially in south St. Louis County. Interstate 55 southbound — was closed after several cars crashed on the Meramec River Bridge near Arnold, Missouri, before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
