Tuesday, July 17th, 2001 Technology

A survey by the National Association of Independent Insurers, based in Des Plaines, Ill., concludes that property and casualty insurers are offering customers and prospective policyholders more than just information. According to an NAII press release, the organization's 20th Annual Information Systems Survey results suggest that insurers are moving toward providing more customer services, including quotes, online applications and access to claims information. Of 59 out of 266 NAII member insurance companies that responded to the survey: • 90 percent operate a Web site. • More than 23 percent currently use their Web sites to provide quotes, and 58 percent plan to introduce this feature within the next year.
