Insurers, customers better prepared for 2007 hurricanes
Tuesday, August 21st, 2007 Catastrophe PropertyAs the U.S. Gulf Coast prepares for the possible arrival of Hurricane Dean, residents and insurers appear to be in better shape now to withstand a big storm than they were in 2005, when three major storms hit the area. Insurers, which covered more than $50 billion in losses when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast two years ago, have made several changes to better insulate themselves from potential losses.
