Integration Eyed By Claim Departments

When the vice president of underwriting for architects and engineers professional liability left Reliance National three years ago, the company replaced him with law school graduate and claims professional, Bruce Eisler. While Mr. Eisler and other insurance professionals will tell you his transition from lawyer to claims examiner is not unique in the industry, his move from claims to underwriting is unusual. But at Reliance, where the walls between the claims and underwriting have come down for professional liability and financial specialty lines, it wasn't hard for Mr. Eisler to adjust to his underwriting role while maintaining responsibility for more than 150 claim files.
