It’s Work Zone Awareness Week; Three PennDOT Workers Struck

Authorities say three highway workers were struck and injured on a Monroe County interstate. Officials said the accident happened Tuesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation construction zone in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township. PennDOT spokesman Ronald Young said one worker was flown to a hospital and the other two were taken to a medical facility by road. Their conditions and details about the accident weren’t immediately available.
