Local agents see spike in weather-related insurance claims

Friday, February 4th, 2011 Auto Property Risk Management

The wintry mix hovering over Texoma has insurance agents bracing for a spike in weather-related claims. "State Farm has already had around 600 claims on auto and home. I expect that number to grow especially from pipes as they start to thaw out,"Jim McClure, State Farm Insurance Agent.
McClure says the severe weather has prompted claims ranging from water damage to frozen pipes. That’s why he says protecting your home from the frigid temps is a must.
