Online Quotes Far From Instant
Monday, August 23rd, 1999 Life & Health TechnologyMost of us would probably agree that given today’s advanced computer technology, we should be able to boot up our home or office PCs, go online and get “instant” quotes on auto insurance. The Internet, after all, is touted as the medium of fast response and immediacy, and auto insurance, the industry tells us, has become a commodity product. Based on my own recent foray onto several Web sites that offer auto insurance quotes, however, the actual online experience is far from “instant.” As with my previous attempts to get life insurance quotes online (see last week's edition), the purpose of this effort was to sample the online experience of searching for auto quotes in terms of quality and responsiveness of the sites. The findings here are in no way intended to rate the insurance marketplace sites or the auto insurers named.
