Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller has announced that the Pennsylvania Insurance Department has reclaimed some $185 million in restitution payments from the state’s insurance industry in 2015. Last year, more than 12,000 consumers in the state were overcharged for coverage or their claims were underpaid. Some consumers were subject to nefarious acts coming from agents as well. These agents would collect payments but never send the funds to insurance providers. The Insurance Department has been able to recover this money in many cases.
