Record-setting hurricane season comes to an end; PCI urges policymakers and consumers to reduce risks now

The 2008 Hurricane Season, which ends November 30, will go into the history books as the fourth most costly on record, according to the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI). As predicted, this year was another above average storm season with 16 named storms to date. There were eight hurricanes: two Category 1 (Hanna, Kyle), one Category 2 (Dolly), two Category 3 (Bertha, Omar), and three Category 4 (Gustav, Ike, Paloma).
