Reputation Critical To Internet Success

Monday, June 19th, 2000 Technology

The reputation of an insurance agency or company is "critical" to assure success when doing business over the Internet, according to an overwhelming majority of those responding to an informal survey by the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. Eighty-nine percent of the approximately 900 agents and insurance company officials surveyed at last month's National Flood Conference in Austin, Texas, said a company’s reputation is the critical factor in achieving e-commerce success. Five percent said reputation does not matter because e-commerce is based on price alone. Four percent said reputation could have a minimal impact, but do not believe many people bother to check. Two percent said "no one cares about reputation," and that "name recognition is what is important."
