A San Francisco towing company owner is facing new federal charges for insurance fraud, marking the second case against them in less than a month. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, the owner, along with several associates, allegedly engaged in two schemes to defraud insurance companies.
The first scheme involved filing a false insurance claim for a wrecked vehicle in 2019, while the second scheme involved staging a multi-vehicle crash in San Mateo County to collect insurance money.
These charges come amid previous accusations, including welfare fraud and illegal towing practices, which have already led to the debarment of the owner’s companies from city contracts. If convicted, those involved could face significant prison time and fines.
