
Route 2 east was closed Tuesday morning in the area of exits 16 and 17 after a tractor trailer crashed into the back of a Department of Transportation truck, according to the state police. The crash was reported around 10:30 a.m. when a tractor trailer traveling east on Route 2 crashed into the back of a special crash-protection truck the DOT deploys behind its street sweeping vehicles to protect them and motorists, DOT spokesman Kevin Nursick said. Police called for a wrecker to haul away the tractor trailer, state police said.
