Two South Florida wildfires continued to spread after burning thousands of acres in undeveloped areas of the Everglades region. Officials reported no serious injuries or property damage, but smoke and reduced visibility created public safety concerns as containment efforts expanded.

The larger fire, southwest of Fort Lauderdale, reached about 5,600 acres and was 30% contained. A second fire near Homestead in southern Miami-Dade County burned about 300 acres and was also 30% contained. The National Guard joined state and local crews in the response.

For claims adjusters, the immediate loss picture appears limited because the fires are burning in largely undeveloped areas. Still, wildfire activity can quickly affect auto, property, business interruption, and liability claims when smoke, road closures, evacuation orders, or damaged structures enter the picture. The report also adds to broader catastrophe concerns tied to dry conditions across the Southeast.
