
At a meeting of emergency services workers Tuesday, the new head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and top national forecasters warned that the United States may be in for another brutal hurricane season, and that it will be up to individuals, not the government, to prepare. Government disaster response is under increased scrutiny nationwide because of failures during last year’s record hurricane season. Paulison urged about 300 local emergency responders to work not just on their own disaster plans, but on educating the public on what they need to do.
