Train, 18-wheeler collide in Temple, Texas

A Rogers man died when the 18-wheeler flatbed truck he was driving was hit by an Amtrak passenger train near the intersection of South 12th Street and East Avenue K just after 11 a.m. Monday. The driver was identified as Randall Collier, 58, said Temple Police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox. Bobby Martin, whose house on South 12th Street is next to the railroad tracks, said he heard the train blow its horn and then a loud “boom” when the train and truck collided. Martin then called 911 at 11:08 a.m., he said.
