Transit Bus Crash Leaves 1 Dead, Damages Berkeley Home

A collision between an AC Transit bus and a sedan Thursday morning in Berkeley left one person dead, authorities said. The incident was reported about 6:40 a.m. when the driver of a red car, traveling southbound on California Street, collided with an AC Transit bus going westbound on Ashby Avenue, said Sgt. Andrew Frankel of the Berkeley Police Department. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene and was not identified.The accident was a T-bone collision, Frankel said, and the impact caused both the bus and vehicle to smash into a parked car and nearby home. Dale Reynolds, 60, was just waking up when he heard a boom.
