Tropical Storm Isaac Weakens; Canada Suspends All Watches, Warnings

The remnants of Hurricane Isaac lost the characteristics of a tropical storm Monday and the Canadian Meteorological Service discontinued all tropical storm watches and warnings it had issued for the storm. At 5 p.m. ET Isaac had top sustained winds near 60 mph, down from 75 mph earlier in the day, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center here said. Tropical storms have winds of at least 39 mph, while the threshold for a hurricane is 74 mph. It was expected to weaken further in the next day.
