Tropical Storms In Atlantic Pose No Threat

Monday, August 8th, 2005 Catastrophe Property

Two tropical storms, Irene and Harvey churned in the Atlantic Ocean early Monday but experts say there is no immediate threat to land. Irene, which is centered about 955 miles east-northeast of the Leeward Islands, is moving west-northwest at a speed of 14 mph and formed Sunday as the earliest ninth named storm on record for the Atlantic hurricane season. According to hurricane specialists, typically, there are only two named storms at this point in the season.
