UPDATE: Bomb Attacks Paralyze London; 37 Dead, At Least 350 Injured; Al-Qaeda Suspected

Thursday, July 7th, 2005 Catastrophe

A series of seven closely timed explosions during the morning rush hour has brought the British capital of London to a standstill as police halted traffic on all central bus lines and underground subway lines. The most serious explosions occurred at the Aldgate Underground subway station near the financial district and on a residential street in London where a bus was reportedly destroyed. While there was no immediate indication as to who was responsible for the attacks, several experts in counter-terrorism said they bore all the hallmarks of an attack by the Al-Qaeda network.
