Everybody knows that when a lawsuit is involved, everything you say may be used against you. How about everything you type? Can what you write in an e-mail that has been deleted and never sent be used against you? If that is the case, shouldn’t you be a lot more careful of the things you put into your computer? Welcome to the world of computerized evidence discovery - a world where not only what you write can be used against you, but where deleting a document can be as futile as trying to remove a piece of gum hopelessly stuck to the bottom of your shoe. It just won’t go away without special handling.
